Abstract
With the passing of the new Forests Actin December 1918 and with a scientifically trained forester in charge, the new Forests Department set out with enthusiasm to redress the chaoscaused by the previous 90 years of virtually uncontrolled exploitation of the forests of the southwest of Western Australia. The objectives and accomplishments of those sixteen years have had a major influence on the character and extent of today’s forests.
