Abstract
In the context of culturally inclusive teaching, this piece brings together two educational frameworks - Universal Design for Learning and Intercultural Development - to develop a model for UDL for Culturally Inclusive Learning, which overlays the key features of each, to address: 1) engagement (why), 2) representation (how), and 3) action and expression (what). The world, and the higher education classroom, is increasingly globalised, and the combined framework presented here encourages university educators to build an understanding of the impact of cultural dimensions on the approaches and expectations of students from diverse backgrounds. Advice is provided on adapting teaching approaches to ensure teaching is culturally inclusive.
