Abstract
This chapter addresses challenges and responses to eliminating racism in Australian nursing and midwifery. Historically marginalised in healthcare access and healthcare professions, racism impacts First Peoples as patients and as health professionals. We highlight what has or is being changed, for example, in policy and professional practice, to promote anti-racism in health systems and professions. With higher preterm and low birthweight infant outcomes, from birth Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples experience significant life course health inequities. Encountering racism when seeking healthcare is well documented.
