Abstract
This chapter has three main sections: first, i attempt to outline what the labels 'critical and reflexive' mean to me (and in doing so I have therefore not presented a summary of the literature on the subject); second, I illustrate these with a brief account of a piece of facilitated socially critical action research (chosen because it illustrates a process of research training appropriate to the method); third, I discuss how this instance exemplifies some aspects of the method. However, I'll begin with a few words about the purpose of this chapter.
