Abstract
The most dramatic change in the focus of identity and the struggle over collective goods in post-Suharto Indonesia has undoubtedly been the radical shift in orientation from the nation to a complex constellation of constituent parts. In consequence, any discussion of collective goods and collective action in contemporary Indonesia has to recognise that the once powerful nationalist construction of common identity and interest faces increasing regional and local contestation.
