Abstract
Ecohydrology can be described, in its simplest form, as the study of interactions between biota and the water cycle. More specifically, ecohydrology focuses on how biotic processes influence the storage and movement of water, and how hydrologic processes shape the distribution, structure, and function of ecosystems [1]. It is this two-way coupling—plants and animals altering water, water constraining life—that makes ecohydrology uniquely suited to understanding today’s rapid environmental change.
