Abstract
This chapter seeks to explore the links among migration, class and community using a case study of Croatians in Western Australia (WA). Mass movement of people across the globe has been an important feature of the contemporary world. Migration has special significance in Australia, which is second only to Israel in having the highest proportion of immigrants in the total population (Bessant and Watts 1998: 200). WA is the Australian state with the highest proportion of immigrants: one-third of the total population according to the 1996 census (Perth Social Atlas 1997).
