Abstract

Ghana Renewable Energy Rural Electrification Sierra Leone Stakeholders
The emergence of distributed generated schemes has paved the way for electrifying rural communities with renewable energy sources in a decentralized setting. However, renewable energy electrification poses various challenges to the stability of both centralized and decentralized grids, which require commitment and collaboration among multiple stakeholders to achieve resilient, cleaner, and more sustainable renewable energy-based power systems. This study uses qualitative methods to analyze the role of these stakeholders in promoting the sustainable development of renewable energy electrification projects. Additionally, an expert stakeholder consultation survey assesses how collaborative efforts between stakeholders help to resolve the challenges of renewable energy electrification projects. The study shows that both decision-making and non-decision-making stakeholders play crucial roles in ensuring the smooth implementation of renewable energy electrification projects. The survey reveals key factors that impact the successful deployment of the systems. Finally, we analyze expert insights to propose recommendations for future projects.
