Abstract

This chapter introduces the “third culture professors” (TCP) concept to research on expatriate academics, and separately, to the public administration and public policy disciplines. The output of the reflective and self-reflexive methodology are three sections (adjustment, research, and teaching) combined with nine subcomponents. The subcomponents include visas/documents, non-work life, university research environment, country research environment, addressing faculty, teaching loads, pedagogical choices, lecture styles, and grading expectations. With a combined 33.5 years of being TCPs in nine countries, the three co-authors conclude with discussions of the potential value of TCPs for the diversification and internationalization of the public administration and public policy disciplines.
