A description of the rationale underlying Western Oregon State College’s approach to teacher work sample methodology (TWSM) based on the restructuring of schools in the early 90’s by the Oregon legislature. The paper discusses how the teacher work sample works, as well as its viability as an approach to connecting learning to teachers and contexts.
