3rd International Conference on Heritage and Sustainable Development (Porto, Portugal, 19/06/2012–22/06/2012)
2012
Abstract
Western Australia has an abundance of natural assets; one of the most widely known is the flora. Its status is recognised by its classification as an International biodiversity hotspot. Measures have been introduced for its conservation and protection. While there have been many challenges for the natural heritage of the state, climate change is creating a new dilemma. This paper will review measures being adopted for conservation and protection of natural heritage in Western Australia and consider the challenges that lie ahead for land managers. The paper will also consider whether there is a role for ecotourism and geotourism in raising awareness and increasing the conservation efforts.
