Abstract

...In the prediction of both the length and especially the type of ball delivered by the spin bowler, ball flight information appears to be critical to all skill groups to enhance prediction accuracy. Given that the video-based simulations used in these experiments provides an impoverished ball flight display, experiments are currently underway in our laboratory, using in situ occlusions, to more thoroughly probe for possible skill-related differences in attunement to ball flight information for batting (e.g., see Abernethy, Müller, Farrow, Wallis, & Barras, 2005)...
