Abstract
Introduction: Caring for a loved one with dementia comes with a unique set of difficulties due to the long-term uncertain trajectory of the illness and accompanying ongoing living losses along the way. Carers can very quickly become overwhelmed by the practical aspects of care and grief. Conclusions: Given grief related to dementia is particularly difficult for family carers and loved ones, it can result In complicated, prolonged grief In the longer term. Providing appropriate support to carers during caregiving will hopefully improve the care experience, increase quality of life and improve bereavement outcomes.
