Abstract

Key Messages • When sowing to wheat or another cereal in a paddock with a previous history of Rhizoctonia bare-patch, using cultivation below the seed (~10 cm) and a registered fungicide can reduce disease impact. • A break crop of canola or a chemical fallow may be useful for reducing Rhizoctonia inoculum in the soil prior to sowing a cereal crop. • In the near future, new in-furrow fungicide options, that improve the control of Rhizoctonia disease in barley and wheat, may become available to WA farmers.
