Abstract

Puccinia boroniae is a microcyclic rust fungus, infecting commercially important species of Boronia. Control using fungicides is often ineffective in Western Australia. More information regarding the environmental conditions conducive for basidiospore formation and dispersal of the pathogen is required to improve fungicide application. The aims of this study were to (i) investigate the release of basidiospores of P. boroniae under field conditions and their relationship with weather factors, and (it) confirm the capture of these basidiospores on the spore tape using DNA analysis.
