Abstract
Dr Paola Magni is a forensic biologist with a key focus on the application of natural sciences to crime scene investigations. Paola is a power house in her field; she is a professor at Murdoch University in Western Australia where she has moved to further study flies and also works on forensic cases. She is the inspiration and consultant for a character in the Italian version of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (“R.I.S. Delitti Imperfetti”). Here, Dr. Magni explores the myths and uses of flies throughout history and into today’s modern crime scenes. In doing so, she hopes to change our common perceptions of flies.
