Abstract

•The southwest of Western Australia (SWWA) is a region of extensive land‐cover change, with an estimated 13 million hectares of native vegetation cleared since European settlement, as illustrated in Fig 1 •SWWA has also experienced a general warming and drying trend since the 1970s •Although most of the rainfall is brought about by cold‐fronts and cloud bands, no study has explicitly focussed on the impacts of land‐cover change on cold‐fronts in SWWA. •This study investigates the impacts of land‐cover change on a summer and a winter cold-front using the Regional Climate Modelling System (Pielke et al. 1992) version 6.0.
