'A Reflection on South Pacific Regional Security': A Rejoinder
The Journal of Pacific History, Vol.37(3), pp.323-324
2002
Abstract
In ‘A reflection on South Pacific regional security, mid-2000 to mid-2001’ (Journal of Pacific History 36:3, 2001), Stewart Firth takes issue with my contention that the South Pacific region is undergoing a series of inter-related changes which resemble those associated with violent conflict and the failure of democratic government in Africa. However, the evidence he advances to make his case ends up, on closer examination, to support the arguments I made in my article ‘The Africanisation of the South Pacific’ (Australian Journal of International Affairs, 54:3, 2000).
