Abstract
This Film as Text by Katie Ellis looks at existential motifs in The Maltese Falcon. These motifs are a formal and stylistic tradition with recognisable tendencies and traits: the non-heroic hero, alienation, loneliness, threat of death, meaninglessness and chaos.
