Abstract

The authors look at several reasons why assessment maintains a central role in Oregon’s efforts to improve education and argue that Oregon has a unique opportunity and responsibility in assessing educational progress and offer two standards with which to gauge assessment quality. Lastly, the authors offer several suggestions on improving the general quality of assessment practice that are in line with two standards described.
