Abstract

It is realised that sharp peaks on the VLEED spectrum come from reflections from band-gap at boundaries of Brillouin zones. Constructing Brillouin zones from the O-Cu(001) angular-resolved VLEED spectra yields information about energy band and lateral atomic shift. The derived information coincides with known quantities detected by other means such as UPS and LEED.
