Abstract
Liver and kidney samples from a manual, a semi-automatic and two fully automated soft tissue core biopsy systems were compared in a double blind study by histopathological assessment. The samples were obtained from a canine cadaver and attempts were made to mimic the clinical situation as closely as possible in harvesting the biopsy material. The effect of multiple instrument use on the quality of the specimens was also examined.
