Abstract
Background: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a common, chronic liver disorder related to obesity and insulin resistance. Iron metabolism is impaired in obese patients, often despite elevated serum ferritin levels. In healthy patients, iron deficiency has been associated with physical inactivity, however little is known regarding the relationship between iron metabolism and reduced physical capacity in individuals with NAFLD.
