Differential backmixing in distillation columns

Abstract
The equations describing solvent extraction equipment with differential backmixing have been applied to distillation columns. The results can be interpreted in terms of this backmixing but the existing correlations for the liquid phase Peclet numbers must be increased by a factor of eight.
