Effects of fluorides on plant communities around an aluminium smelter
Environmental Pollution Series A, Ecological and Biological, Vol.24(1), pp.45-56
1981
Abstract
A study of plant distribution around an aluminum smelter emitting fluoride compounds showed differences in plant community composition and structure. These differences may be explained by intra-specific and interspecific variations in tolerance to fluorides and by exposure factors such as plant habit, adaptations to prevent water loss and topography of the area.
Possible long-term consequences of this damage are discussed, especially in relation to fire.
