Abstract

An experimental methodology developed by coupling a sampling line based on USEPA method 23 to a standard cone calorimeter is described for the study of uncontrolled emission of pollutants from fires of uncontaminated and contaminated wood. Four different kinds of timber-based materials were studied for target emissions which included PAHs, PCBs and dioxins. The results from the GC/MS analysis have been reported to show the presence of pollutants in emissions from all timber materials studied.
