Abstract
Gibberellin, or substances like gibberellin, have been detected in vascular plants belonging to diverse taxonomic groups1, and there is evidence for their occurrence in a species of green alga2 and two species of brown algae2,3. We report here the presence of gibberellin-like activity in an extract from a species belonging to a further principal group of the plant kingdom, the red algae.
