Abstract
With the pervasive presence of mobile wireless personal computing devices, wireless communication technologies are rapidly evolving and influencing our daily way of life. Together with traditional voice services, these new technologies will support a rich set of new wireless data and multimedia services. The strict Quality of Service (QoS) requirements that these new services will require pose significant challenges to the designers of wireless networks. These challenges are further exasperated by the inherent transmission impairments of wireless links (e.g., fading, noise) and user mobility.
