Abstract
The extent to which humans have altered, perhaps irreversibly, the biologi- cal and physical features of the environment has become one of the focal topics of the late 20th century.' A pervasive theme that runs throughout this discussion is the lasting impact humans have had through the intentional and accidental introductions of species into new environments.2 Biological introductions occur when species are transported beyond their natural ranges by the agencies of human activities.
