Abstract

It was an entirely conscious decision: to go to Brisbane in the middle of the beer commercial called 'The Bicentennial' and not to go to Expo. Conscious but with reason? And, deeper mystery still: did I really not go? Well, probably not. It was more likely a kind of training in the antiestablishmentism that comes from having grown up in the '60s, having limply and half-heartedly carried a certain flag during the apathetic '70s, and now finding myself faced with all kinds of enticements during the '80s to cease from all commitment and accept my post-crash yuppie lot. (Another bloody BMW? zzzzzzzzzzzz.)
