Abstract

Observations on the histology of Austrobilharzia terrigalensis (Trematoda: Schistosomatidae) infection in the Silver Gull, Larus novaehollandiae. International Journal for Parasitology 14: 23-28. Necropsies were carried out on Silver Gulls, Larus novaehollandiae, naturally infected with the schistosome Austrobilharzia terrigalensis. Adult A. terrigalensis were found in the branches of the meseriteric vein but the liver, lungs and intestine were the organs most affected by the deposition of the parasite's eggs. Descriptions of egg granulomata in these tissues are given and the nature of the damage to the organs is discussed.
