Abstract

Life Sciences & Biomedicine Medicine, Research & Experimental Research & Experimental Medicine Science & Technology
The case for aligning competencies associated with integrated care (IC) and interprofessional practice (IPP) is compelling. Individual clinicians who work daily to implement positive change such as IC and IPP may have limited scope for change and influence, especially within large complex bureaucracies, constrained by a lack of awareness, skills and knowledge of how to affect change within organisations. Teaching how to influence and implement change in a complex system is a skill that educators should hone with as much enthusiasm as when teaching health care students how to take a blood pressure.
