Sympathetic Vascular Dilatation in Migraine and Cluster Headache

Abstract

In cluster headache, blood flow increases in and around the affected eye and cheek (1), whereas in migraine cutaneous blood flow in the frontotemporal region increases in a minority of patients (2). Disturbances in sympathetic outflow (3, 4). The aim of the present investigation was to examine the relationship between facial blood flow (measured thermographically) and indices of ocular sympathetic activity in cluster headache and migraine.
