Abstract

Tetrasporangial conceptacle development in the Lithophylloideae and the Mastophoroideae follows two patterns on the basis of present knowledge. The sequence of development in these patterns, although different may lead to mature conceptacles which have similar arrangement of tetrasporangia, paraphyses and columella. The developmental sequence appears to be important in subfamilial separation in the Corallinaceae.
