Abstract

In the preface to this text, the editors, John Kagel and Alvin Roth, describe how the various chapter authors, all well known in their respective fields, were set the task of surveying those areas of their specialism where a concentration of experiments had influenced theoretical development. Their mission was to both provide a review for non-specialists of the relevant theory and how it had been influenced by the experiments completed to date, while also offering a survey for specialists that could provide a platform and hints for future research. They have produced an outstanding book. This reviewer has benefited in both of the above ways, as well as from the many references; one chapter alone lists over 500.
