1989
Abstract
Thirty-two species of the dinoflagellate genus Ceratium Schrank (Dinophyceae, Peridiniales) are reported and described from Bass Strait and adjoining waters, southern Australia. Ten of these species (C. setaceum, C. kofoidii, C. longirostrum, C. falcatiforme, C. contortum, C. gibberum, C. paradoxides, C. ranipes, C. vultur, C. carriense var. carriense) represent new records for the area. A new combination, Ceratium carriense var. massiliense (Gourret) Huisman, is proposed. Descriptions and illustrations are provided for all species.
