Abstract

A chapter of the book "Colloquium: The Australian and New Zealand Theological Review" is presented. It explores the condemnation ordered by bishop Stephen Tempier to the two hundred and nineteen propositions most inspired by Aristotelian thrust during 1277 at a university of theology in Paris, France. It discusses how the consequences of the condemnation affected the absolute freedom of God. It also provides some background on the developments leading to the Christian law of condemnation.
