Abstract

Nutrition is an important determinant of health and is the subject of systematic planning at all levels of society. In the last three decades details of nutrition that would lead to optimum health has usually been communicated to the public through dietary guidelines. Over time, the process of development of guidelines has become more sophisticated and an increasing amount of scientific evidence is required to justify the decisions made about dietary guidelines
