Abstract

A new wolf spider species from the alpine region of the Australian Alps, Artoria alta sp. nov., is described and the male of Lycosa musgravie McKay, 1974 is illustrated for the first time. Dense pubescence in L. musgravei may have evolved as an adaptation to the alpine environment to insulate against heat loss and protect against high levels of radiation.
