Abstract

Crimp top, tapered glass vials were used instead of capillary tubes in a modification to the procedure for the extraction of dyes from fibres to facilitate analysis by High Performance Liquid Chromatography. The manipulation of the fibre into the vial was easier to perform. The fibre could be extracted in the sealed vial which was then placed in the Gilson autoinjector. The autoinjector was programmed to dilute the extracts prior to injection onto the HPLC column. Using crimp top, tapered glass vials has reduced the number of stages and simplified the preparation of the sample for analysis by HPLC.
