'What have you ever done on the telly?': The Office, (post) reality television and (post) work
International Journal of Cultural Studies, Vol.8(1), pp.101-117
2005
Abstract
Cultural studies theorists have neglected two topics: the changes to the workplace and innovations in comedy. This article reconnects cultural studies with both work and comedy through attention to one of the finest British satires ever made: The Office. I track this programme by situating it in the three intertwined 'crises' of our era: in television, work and masculinity.
