Abstract

Child health Commentary Global Health Health systems Public Health
Summary box • The population of Gaza is experiencing a health and humanitarian crisis. • Tens of thousands of lives have been lost already, and many more people will die due to preventable causes related to infectious disease, malnutrition, and traumatic injury. • As public health researchers and practitioners, our role in times of both peace and war, is to promote population health, prevent disease and reduce health inequalities. • While the politics may be complicated, the public health imperative is not complicated– action is needed to prevent further death, injury and suffering in Gaza.
