Abstract
Social e-learning in this context primarily describes the use of online, collaborative tools that allow students to share information and progress on activities. This differs from current organizational LMS which generally support formal, non-social learning. The key feature of social e-learning is to improve communication, so that students may freely communicate with each other as well as with the teacher. This need for improved communication is also reflected in the unit development process, as meetings were conducted to include students in the development and refinement of the unit.
