Abstract
An equation commonly used for producing radiation readings has shown to be flawed in the way it links solar radiation to sunshine duration.
Researchers discovered that the Angstrom-Prescott equation overestimates radiation levels during overcast and clear periods, but underestimates during partly cloudy intervals.
The equation is often used to provide radiation readings in models across a number of disciplines including agriculture, ecology and meteorology.
