On the occasion of the XII World Shakespeare Congress ( Planetary Shakespeares , Verona, July 20–26, 2026 ), the Conservatory of Verona and the Skené Group of the University of Verona have launched an international call for proposals inviting artists from around the world to submit proposals for a creative text to be performed with original music. This initiative aimed to blend music and storytelling, offering a unique performance in homage to Shakespeare's timeless legacy, exploring themes, motifs, or interpretations inspired by his work. The winning group was Shakespeare South from Perth, Australia, led by Alys Daroy, with the text "The Wind," inspired by Shakespeare's " The Tempest ," which reimagines the enchanted island as a contested landscape in constant environmental transformation.
