About me
I am a discovery scientist with over 22 years of experience in the fields of immunology and infectious disease with a focus on paediatrics. My current research combines current cellular and cutting-edge molecular ‘omics’ methodologies with primary human and animal samples, to understand how the immune system contributes to defence against infection in sepsis in human and animals. I lead the Sepsis Diagnostics Research Group with the Personalised Medicine Centre (formerly CMMIT) at Murdoch University and co-head the Neonatal Infection and Immunity Team with Neonatologist Clinical Prof Tobias Strunk at the Wesfarmers Centre of Vaccine & Infectious Diseases at Telethon Kids Institute. My research team works collaboratively with leading national and international researchers in sepsis, including longstanding partnerships with scientists in Canada, Denmark, UK, US and most recently China. Collectively, we aim to reduce the burden of sepsis in the most vulnerable members of society.
