About me
Dr Augustine Donkor is a Lecturer in Accounting and Finance at Murdoch University. His diverse background spans academia, industry, and consultancy in Ghana and Australia. He holds a PhD in Accounting from Edith Cowan University, an MPhil, and a BSc in Business Administration (Accounting) from the University of Ghana. He is also a Chartered Accountant (Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana).
Dr Donkor brings extensive experience from both academia and professional practice. He has previously held academic positions at Sheridan Institute of Higher Education, Edith Cowan University, and the University of Ghana Business School. His industry experience includes working as an accountant with the International Centre for Enterprise and Sustainable Development (ICED), a Ghana-based NGO supporting the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and sustainable business practices.
He is an active researcher in corporate governance, sustainability reporting, integrated reporting, tax avoidance, and assurance. His work has been published in high-quality journals such as Business Strategy and the Environment, Journal of Cleaner Production, Sustainability Accounting, Management and Policy Journal, and the International Journal of Auditing. His research contributions have been recognised through several competitive grants, including funding from the Australia-Africa Universities Network and the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand (AFAANZ).
Dedicated to student success and academic excellence, Dr Donkor has supervised research students and continues to contribute to curriculum design and inclusive teaching practices. He is a member of key academic associations, including AFAANZ, the European Accounting Association (EAA), and the African Accounting and Finance Association (AAFA).
His current research explores sustainability practices and reporting in public and higher education sectors across Australasia and Africa, with a particular focus on institutional responses to climate change, stakeholder perceptions of sustainability, the integration of sustainability into strategic reporting frameworks, and the evolving role of governance in fostering climate resilience and accountability.
