About me

Fiona Scarff is a biologist with interests in bird, mammal and plant ecology and in fire science. Her recent work has been applying wing morphology and flight dynamics to developing wind turbine collision risk modelling for the Carnaby’s cockatoo. She has been modelling the error around GPS tracking tag data to more accurately calculate altitude and therefore flight height of these birds above vegetation, as input into the collision risk modelling. She has also been working on development of spatial datasets to extract landuse type associations with flight height, to improve predictive capacity of the models. Fiona is also involved with developing models of species distribution in three species of black cockatoo native to Western Australia.
