Honorary Research Fellow, Personalised Medicine Centre, Health Futures Institute, Murdoch University
About me
Dr Suxiang Chen (John) undertook his PhD in the Personalised Medicine Centre (formerly Centre for Molecular Medicine and Innovative Therapeutics) under the supervision of Associate Professor Rakesh Veedu, graduating in 2021, and in recent years has worked as a postdoctoral scientist in Rakesh’s laboratory. John’s research has been highly productive with 30 scientific publications and two patents, the latter describing antisense therapeutics for cancer, diabetes, and obesity. In 2025, John will return to China to pursue a research career but will continue to have close ties with the Personalised Medicine Centre as an honorary research fellow. His immediate plan is to focus on using antisense therapeutics to explore novel biological mechanisms that can be exploited as tools in biomedical research.
