About me
I am an internationally renowned expert in wind energy, having researched for over 30 years in this area in Europe, the USA and now Australia. My research is featured in the international design standard for small wind turbines (IE61400-2), and I was part of the team that revised this standard in 2013. I have represented Australia in research tasks T27 (2009 – 2018) and T41 (2020 - present) of the International Energy Agency Wind RD&D Program. In 2013, I was awarded a research fellowship at the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg (HWK) Institute of Advanced Study in Delmenhorst, Germany, where I collaborated with wind researchers from Forwind, one of the largest wind energy institutes in the world. I brought my expertise on wind energy to Murdoch University in 2001, where I established the federally funded National Small Wind Turbine Centre, incorporated my research into my teaching of wind energy in the Energy Studies Program and introduced industry-standard software and methods into laboratories in Renewable Energy Engineering.
My time at Murdoch has seen a broadening of my research in wind energy together with a branching out of my research into multi-discipline areas. From the SciVal keyphrase analysis, the most frequently used key phrases in my research publications are Wind Turbine, Electric Vehicle and Built Environment, and my research area can be classified generally as Sustainable Energy.
